Who is a miner and what do they do? The miner’s task is the extraction of coal and other raw materials.

The activities of the job include rock breaking, tunnelling and underground working (digging out coal, shoring up and securing the walls of mine shafts and tunnels, equipment installations, timber / prop installation & drawing, handling of ripping machines, mining equipment and locomotives, maintenance of mine workings, construction and maintenance of fireproof, and insulating walls and barriers, execution of blasting operations in mines and auxiliary work.
Where is it done and under what conditions? This job is carried out in both deep mines and open pits (quarries) and therefore exposure to extremely dusty conditions, high temperatures, noise and working with relatively inaccessible objects, in confined spaces, as well as shift-working, must be expected.
What tools/equipment do they use? The most common tools and equipment used are various ripping machinery systems, drilling rigs, coal cutting, pneumatic hammers, blasting equipment, mining locomotives, trucks, loaders, conveyor belts. You need strong hands and arms. The materials worked on are mainly coal, rock, soil and other minerals.
