JANUARY 2017 ADMISSIONS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes for the 2016/2017 Academic Year commencing in JANUARY 2017.
A. UNDERGRADUATE 4-YEAR B.Sc. PROGRAMMES

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(i.) B.Sc. COMPUTER ENGINEERING/B.Sc. COMPUTER SCIENCE/B.Sc. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING /B.Sc. ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING/B.Sc. NAUTICAL SCIENCE/B.Sc. MARINE ENGINEERING
- WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in the following Three (3) Core Subjects: English, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits (A1-C6) in three elective Subjects which must include Physics and Elective Mathematics with an aggregate score of 24 on the SSSCE Scale or 36 on the WASSCE scale or better.
Or
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) Holders: Applicants must have credits in at least five G.C.E ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least three Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects one of which must be Mathematics.
Or
- Other Qualifications: Other qualifications including International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects, IGCSE with a minimum of Grade C, American Grades 12, FTC, City & Guilds, Technician Part 3 and Advanced Technician Diploma, etc. in relevant subjects which are equivalent to the SSSCE/WASSCE or the GCE will be considered.
Or
- HND Holders: HND holders in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division from recognized Tertiary Institutions. Applicants must have at least two (2) years post-qualification working experience.
NOTE: i. Candidates for Nautical Science and Marine Engineering must equally meet the conditions for Cadetship training programme.
ii. The University will arrange for vessels/ships for students internship/practical training.
(ii.) B.Sc. PORT AND SHIPPING ADMINISTRATION
- WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in the following Three (3) Core Subjects: English, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus credits (A1-C6) in any three (3) elective subjects with an aggregate score of 24 on the SSSCE Scale or 36 on the WASSCE scale or better.
Or
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) holders: Applicants must have credits in at least five G.C.E ‘O’ Level subjects (including English Language and Mathematics plus at least three passes at Advanced Level.
Or
- Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Applicants must have full Diploma Certificate in ABCE. In addition, applicants must have credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) or SSSCE or WASSCE or NECO.
Or
- Other Qualifications: Other qualifications including International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects, IGCSE with a minimum of grade C, American Grades 12 etc. which are equivalent to WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO or GCE will be considered.
(iii) MATURE STUDENTS’ ENTRY ROUTE (ALL PROGRAMMES)
Applicants must be at least 25 years old, and would have to show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.
- Applicant must also pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the University in (English Language, Mathematics and Aptitude Test).
NOTE: The Mature Examinations will be held on Saturday, 10th December, 2016
B. DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
- DIPLOMA IN PORT AND SHIPPING MANAGEMENT
- DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (REGULAR/WEEKEND)
- DIPLOMA IN NAUTICAL SCIENCE
- DIPLOMA IN MARINE ENGINEERING

(i) DIPLOMA IN PORT AND SHIPPING MANAGEMENT
- Applicants must have six [6] passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and a minimum of C6 in three (3) passes in any elective subjects.
or
- G.C.E. ‘O’ Level Credit in five [5] subjects (including Mathematics & English Language), plus G.C.E. ‘A’ Level passes in any two (2) subjects.
or
- GBCE Candidates: credit passes (A-D) in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus two (2) relevant elective subjects.
(ii) DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING/NAUTICAL SCIENCE AND MARINE ENGINEERING ( 2017-2018 Regional Maritime University Admission Forms )
- SSSCE/WASSCE/NECO: Applicants must have six [6] passes (A1-D7) in all subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and a minimum of C6 in three (3) passes in relevant subjects (e.g. Elective Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Electricity, Geography etc).
or
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) Holders: Applicant must have credits in at least five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus at least two (2) Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects. (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Metal Work, Applied Electricity etc).
or
- Other Qualifications: Other qualifications including International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects, IGCSE with a minimum of Grade C, American Grades 12, FTC, City and Guilds, Technician Part II and Advanced Technician Diploma, etc .in relevant subjects which are equivalent to the SSSCE/WASSCE/NECO or the GCE will be considered.

C. 2017-2018 Regional Maritime University Admission Forms – MARINE ENGINE MECHANIC (ONE SEMESTER PROGRAMME)
Entry Requirements: Middle School Leaving Certificate/Basic Education Certificate (JHS), SSSCE, WASSCE G.C.E. ‘O’ Level or equivalent.
NOTE:
i. All candidates must satisfy specific Departmental requirements in addition to the general requirements.
ii. Final Admission onto all programmes is based on successful completion of physical and medical examinations at the Regional Maritime University Sick Bay.

All applicants for the 2016/2017 Academic Year admissions are required to use the Regional Maritime University [RMU] online application portal. The procedure for the online application process is as follows:
[a] Make appropriate payment as indicated below at the various sales centers for the RMU
E-Voucher:
- B.Sc. Programmes: GH¢150.00 or $50.00
- Diploma/Marine Engine Mechanic: GH¢120.00 or $40.00

[b] The E-Voucher contains the Pin and Serial Number required in completing the online form.

[II] INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
[a] Log onto the admission portal : www.rmu.edu.gh/admissions
[b] Click on International Applications and follow the instructions displayed on the page for the completion of the form.
[c] Applicants must print out application summary; attach transcripts, certificates and all other relevant documents. These documents should be sent to the Academic Registrar.
CLOSING DATE
The closing dates for submission of applications are 2nd December, 2016 for Matured Applicants and 9th December, 2016 for Regular and Weekend applicants. Candidates should note that no applications will be accepted after the deadline. Matured Entrance Examinations would be held on Saturday, 10th December, 2016
