Who are they and what do they do? The underground mine safety engineer ‘s job is to monitor the conditions of occupational health and safety in underground mines. He/she investigates job-related injuries, and other extraordinary events in underground mines and prepares analyses of them. He/she determines occupational health & safety measures.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In the environment of underground and open-cast mines. Adverse effects may include noise & dust and working in shifts.
What tools/equipment do they use? Measuring instruments, computer and office equipment.
What do you need to succeed? You need a university degree, a specialised college education or secondary education, an ability to work systematically, respect for safety regulations and standards, technical awareness and the ability to negotiate.
