Who is a dresser and what do they do? The dresser is a worker who prepares, alters, or repairs an actor’s clothes.
What are the activities of the dresser? Prepares, alters and repairs costumes and accessories for theatre and film actors. He/she often dresses the actors in these costumes and alters actor’s general appearance as regards his/her clothes. He/she ensures storage, transport, and packaging of the clothes. He/she keeps records of them and proposes new purchases.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In theatres, in studios and film studios or on location.
What tools/equipment do they use? Sometimes for example iron, needle and thread as well as sewing machine.
What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed an apprenticeship training and have aesthetic awareness.
