Who is an animator and what do they do? The animator is a worker who creates the images in animated films using drawing, modelling or computer graphics to make pictures and models come to life and move around.
What are the activities of an animator? Depending on the storyline and director’s intentions, s/he develops the storyline into successive individual pictures and creates these particular pictures. S/he determines the instructions for the camera and for editing the animated film. This activity is not carried out manually but by means of a computer using animation programmes which draw the pictures instead of the animator.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In studios, film-making studios. Work outside of normal working hours must be expected.
What tools/equipment do an animator use? Graphic computer systems for animation.
What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed an artistic secondary, higher or university education, aesthetic awareness, a feeling for detail, situation, and artistic skills.
