Choosing and carrying out the technical processes in the breeding of farm animals (cattle and pigs), laboratory and work animals (dogs, birds and horses) – managing livestock production and ensuring its optimisation in line with the commercial contracts, production plans, capacity of the farms and other inputs – ensuring operational harmonisation of livestock production with the other spheres (crop production, veterinary care) of the given farm, taking part in drawing up the goals and plans of an agricultural company or unit – choosing suitable kinds of animals from various breeds and different suppliers – determining the ways of breeding animals, diets, ways of doing the work, – monitoring the yield values of animals and selecting them in stables and stalls – measuring the weight increases, quantity and quality of animal products (milk and meat) – ensuring insemination and related veterinary measures – maintaining the respective records and documents – maybe also consultancy services in the fields of activity listed above.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Partly in offices or similar rooms and partly in stalls, stables and other sheds for farm animals, where the work environment will involve various kinds of dirt, unpleasant odours, and varying weather conditions.

What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed studies at an agricultural university focused on livestock production or general farming, managing skills, ability to work in a team and above all positive attitude to animals.
