mechanical engineering technologist

Who is a mechanical engineering technologist and what do they do? A mechanical engineering technologist determines and specifies technologies of production processes.
What are the activities of the mechanical engineering technologist? His/her task includes determining technological procedures for the production of individual machine components as well as complete products – determining the organisation, procedure and technical conditions of production – determining the requirements for purchase of production and operational equipment, machines, instruments and agents for respective production processes – itemisation of the amounts and types of materials, quality control – ensuring changes in technology – cooperation with others in finding the optimum construction design with regard to the technological aspect of production.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In offices, sometimes in engineering plants, where noise and dust must be expected.
What tools/equipment do they use? Computers and office equipment, the spoken word, sometimes also measurement and control technology.
What do you need to succeed? You need secondary, higher or university education in the field of mechanical engineering, technical understanding, imagination, organisational abilities and precision.
