Who is a hydrologist and what do they do? A hydrologist monitors the amount and quality of water and forecasts water levels in rivers and lakes. The hydrologist’s function is particularly important during floods or when floods pose a threat. In such special situations, she/he often co-operates with meteorologists.
What are the activities of the hydrologist? Monitors the amount and quality of water naturally present, processes these data, updates them and forecasts the further development of the water level in watercourses.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Mainly in an office.
What tools/equipment do they use? Computers and other office equipment, meters.

What do you need to succeed?
You need to have completed secondary, higher secondary or university education, like working with water and the natural environment in general.
