Who is a cleaner and what do they do? The cleaner’s task is to clean up various spaces, including flats, offices, transport vehicles etc.
What are the activities of the cleaner? Everyday cleaning and maintaining order (above all in offices, schools, public health institutions, including corridors, stairways, courtyards, parking lots etc.) – cleaning large spaces using self-propelled mechanisms – washing all kinds of windows, disassembling the items to be cleaned if necessary – clean up and disinfect lavatories and other sanitary rooms – carrying out special cleaning e.g. after wall-painting etc.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In widely differing places, from buildings, construction sites, industrial works, and hospitals, to homes. The working environment will often be dirty, sometimes very dirty, sometimes parts of it will not be easily accessible.
What tools/equipment do the cleaner use? Buckets, brooms, floor-cloths, scrubbing brushes, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners and other cleaning utensils and mechanisms, including self propelled machines, and their own hands and feet.
What do you need to succeed? The occupation demands no special training, but you need punctuality and willingness to do this kind of work.
