Who is a beekeeper and what do they do? The beekeeper keeps colonies of bees and harvests the honey and other products from them.
What are the activities of the beekeeper? Keeps the bee colony, ensures they are in good condition, combines and expands the colonies, replaces queen bees when necessary. She/he harvests the honey, extracts royal jelly, bee poison and other bee products. S/he provides a pollination service for orchards and other crop production. May also breed bee colonies for sale to others.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Outdoors at the beehives. Contact with the bees and changing weather conditions, as well as occasionally some chemicals is to be expected. Note that some people may be seriously allergic to bee stings.
What tools/equipment do they use? Hives, including honeycomb frames, hand tools, a smoke pot to calm bees while dealing with the hive. May use chemicals when hive is infected with disease.
What do you need to succeed? You need vocational training, patience and ability to respond promptly to situations that require action.
