What are the activities of the geologist? Activities include
– carrying out geological surveys and mapping, e.g. in terms of elements that form the earth’s crust in the place concerned, in terms of representation of the single ores, natural gases, crude oil or precious metals, etc.
– description of geological conditions of an area or of geological formations and basins, e.g. composition of rocks and raw material supplies
– giving advice when decisions are made concerning where there should be bore holes and how deep they should be
– putting the findings of the surveys into practice, draining or controlling ground water, mining and other work
– co-operation with other specialists, e.g. seismologists, specialists in x-ray measurements, etc.
– drawing conclusions from reports on the results of the finished and evaluated geological surveys
