Basic schools in the communities around Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, have received educational materials from the defunct KNUST Bookshop. The donation included one thousand six hundred (1,600) books comprising science, mathematics and English books, pencils and boxes of chalk. The event took place on 29th July 2015 at the Procurement Conference Room at KNUST.
Beneficiaries of the materials included KNUST Nursery, KNUST Primary, KNUST Junior High School (JHS), Kotei R/C Primary ‘A’, Kotei R/C Primary ‘B’ Kotei R/C JHS, Ayeduase R/C Primary, Ayeduase R/C JHS, Bomso M/A Primary ‘A’, Bomso M/A Primary ‘B’, Bomso JHS, Adako Jachie M/A Primary, Adako Jachie JHS, Weweso Primary and Weweso JHS.
Professor Samuel Nii Odai, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, remarked that it was a privilege to share the token the university had with the selected schools surrounding KNUST. He charged the heads and teachers of the schools to put the materials to good use to help the school children. Prof. Odai quoted from the Bible, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” to urge the teachers to give their best for the benefit of the school children and the nation as a whole.
The heads and teachers present at the donation expressed their gratitude and promised to put the materials donated by KNUST to good use.
