Who is a corrosion control fitter and what do they do? Corrosion control fitters install, maintain and repair equipment for corrosion protection on gas pipelines.
What are the activities of the corrosion control fitter? Installs and inspects stations and equipment used to minimise corrosion due to static-electricity discharge between gas pipelines and the ground. Measures the electric current present in the ground to identify problem areas. Installs insulating flanges at pipe joints to isolate sections of the pipe. Tests rectifiers to see they are working and replaces them where necessary.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Where the gas pipelines are. There will be variable weather conditions, dirt, and long periods away from home.
