What are the activities of the electroplating operator? Activities include: preparation of various chemical and electroplating baths, treatment of metal surfaces by de-greasing, pickling, phosphating, by plating with chromium, copper, cadmium, nickel, zinc, silver, gold, by electrolytic polishing, anodising, hot-dip coating of metals and plastic surfaces and adjusting galvanising units.
Where is it done and under what conditions? This job is typically done in the difficult environment of galvanising shops, with their high temperatures and exposure to chemical substances, noise and dust.
What tools/equipment do they use? The following tools and equipment are most commonly used: sets for electroplating works, dip tanks, drums, galvanising and hand tools. Manual dexterity is also needed. Chemical substances containing various metals are the materials processed.
