Who is a film designer and what do they do? The film designer is a worker who, according to the description of the storyline and director’s intentions, proposes film scenes and how they could be produced, and the artistic conception of the film. He/she has to bear in mind that these intentions and ideas must be technically feasible.
What are the activities of the film designer? He/she supervises creation of the scene according to his/her design. Usually, he/she takes part in creating special effects in the film.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In a studio, or where film-shooting is going on. Work outside of normal working hours must be expected.
What tools/equipment do they use? Cameras, film, and a variety of special effects equipment, including computers. Lighting and sound equipment.
What do you need to succeed? You need university education, creative ability, spatial imagination, aesthetic feeling.
