Who is a Floor fitter and what do they do? The job of a floor fitter is to lay and repair all types of floor.
What are the activities of the Floor fitter? Laying, gluing and welding of floor cover materials, (such as PVC, linoleum etc.) in single colour or multi-colour strips cut in different patterns (simple patterns, segments, mosaic, etc) arranged in different shapes and forms, gluing floor cover to staircases, casting or spraying floor coverings of synthetic resins with different surface textures, placing and refitting floor covers of hard wood or veneered planks by nailing, or gluing, laying textile floor covering on surfaces of different shapes, placing parquetry of different pattern to design or according to his/her own design, , sanding down old wooden tiles manually or with a sander, and all kinds of floor repairs.
Where is it done and under what conditions? The job is done mainly on construction sites, in newly built buildings, where you can expect dust and dirt as well as changing weather conditions.
What tools/equipment do they use? Chisels, shapers, saws, knives, scrapers, angle irons, cutters, sanding tools, milling machines and other wood cutting machines, polishing machines, etc.
What do you need to succeed? You need an apprenticeship training, physical fitness, accuracy.
