Who is a knitter and what do they do? A knitter’s duty is to make all kinds of knitted products.
What are the activities of the knitter? Knitting all kinds of fabrics (linen, underwear and outer garments, etc.) using various textiles and machines- knitting laces and lace fabrics, bobbin lace work- plain and fancy curtain cloths – knitting stockings – knitting orthopaedic stockings and knee pads – manual knitting with knitting needles and crocheting ladies’ and men’s outer garments according to a customer’s requirements, incl. making patterns and putting the garment together – finding out, and removing, the causes of defects in the knitting. The knitter’s activities may also include making and repairing various nets – in particular curtains, netted bedspreads, safety nets, fishing nets and other nets and net products.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In knitting workshops and factories, where high noise levels must be expected.
What tools/equipment do they use? Mainly knitting machines of various types, as well as bobbin lace machines, sewing, hosiery, and surface printing machines, and manual tools – such as needles, scissors, irons, etc.
What do you need to succeed? You need vocational training, manual skill and patience.
