Who is a music director and what do they do? The music director manages the preparation and performance of an opera or musical.
What are the activities of the music director job? He/she selects actors for particular roles, discusses the role with the actors, leads them during a rehearsal. He/she also manages the recording of the sound track of a film, or of a musical work on TV or radio, and the recording of sound effects.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In theatres (especially for opera, or ballet), concert halls, and recording or film studios. Work outside of usual working hours must be expected.
