Who is a paper worker and what do they do? A paper worker’s job is to operate the machines for the production, upgrading and additional processing of paper, cardboard and paperboard.
What are the activities of the paper worker job? Preparation of the raw material and making up the correct mixtures for paper, cardboard and paperboard production – milling and colouring of paper pulp on various production lines – operation of drying and smoothing devices – operation of kneading mills – operation of other equipment and machines for the production and processing of wood and paper pulp – operation of the equipment needed for finishing various types of paper, cardboard and paperboard – colouring, winding and cutting various types of paper, cardboard and paperboard – remote production control of machinery from panels or control rooms, sometimes using an automated control system – adjustment and maintenance of paper industry equipment.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In paper workshops and factories, where you may come into contact with chemicals and there will be increased noise levels.
What tools/equipment do they use? Wood cutting machines, kneading mills for waste paper, machines for wood-pulp production, wood grinding machines, various kinds of production line, colouring devices, paper cutters, sheet counting machines, etc.
What do you need to succeed? You need vocational training, interest in machinery, quick reaction, some manual skills, physical fitness.
