Who is a production technologist and what do they do? The production technologist (electronic appliances) determines the technological procedures in the production of various electronic appliances – specially in the production of vacuum electronics and semiconductor electronics (transistors, microcircuits, chips).
What are the activities of the production technologist job? Manages and provides for the entire technological preparation of complex products. He/she specifies manufacturing procedures and defines the requirements for the necessary operational machinery. Also determines the type and amount of manufacturing materials required for production.
The technologist sets up technological procedures in the production of electronic units (integrated circuits, transistors, chips), components (amplifiers, sensors, automation units) as well as in the production of finished pieces. He/she manages the production of regulating mechanisms for miscellaneous technological processes (e.g. electronic control centres and panels) or of television and radio transmitters, radars, mobile phones or satellite controlling devices.
He/she is also involved in quality control of electronic appliances. In co-operation with manufacturers he/she develops optimal solutions and technological procedures. Then he/she applies new technological methods and makes use of the results of research in electronics.
Can be in a managerial position.
