Who is a refrigeration engineer and what do they do?
The work of the refrigeration engineer consists of adjusting, installing, connecting, repairing, renovating, inspecting and testing refrigeration and deep-freeze equipment.
What are the activities of the job? Particularly work on household fridges, freezers, cooling systems used in shops etc. (cool boxes, display cabinets etc for perishable goods) or in bars, refrigerated vehicles and other means of transport, deep-freezers, plate freezers, combined refrigeration and deep-freeze systems, such as continuous production units for ice-cream and soda water, refrigeration and deep-freeze transport systems, industrial refrigeration plants, programme and recording elements of some special appliances, such as equipment for use with blood plasma, bone marrow and tissues.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In environments where relevant refrigeration installations are located and therefore probably without significant adverse health effects.
What tools/equipment do they use? Usually various electrical instruments, testers, solders, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers and vacuum filling devices.
