He/she processes the basic material (sugar beet) by, weighing, treating, cleaning, washing, and preparing sugar-beet slices, extracting, cleaning, filtering and thickening the juice, boiling, handling syrups,, drying, cooling and sorting the results into sugar and other sugar products – The sugar maker also stores sugar and molasses – operates continuous production lines and various other technical equipment involved in the processes of sugar production – takes samples for laboratory analyses of the finished products – checks the quality of products – does health and safety work- maintains and repairs production equipment and checks the running of all machines and equipment while preparing for the season.
Where is it done and under what conditions? He/she does the job in sugar refineries where you may have to put up with dirt and impurities, noise, high temperatures and various fumes.
What tools/equipment do the sugar-maker use? Various machines and equipment such as washing machines, slicers, evaporators, boiling machines, in continuous production lines, thickeners, centrifuges, driers, conveyers, hand trucks, lifts and various hand-operated tools.
