The Accra Regional Police Commander COP George Akuffo Dampare has been transferred from the command to head the Police Command and Staff College at Winneba in the Central Region.
His transfer takes immediate effect after serving the command for just six months.
Dr Dampare took over the Accra Regional Police Command after he served as Director General Finance of the Ghana Police Service. He has been credited for his lead role in the swift arrest of the alleged killer of former Abuakwa North MP, J.B. Danquah.
To foster unity and camaraderie between the Police and political parties, he, for the first time, led a top hierarchy of police officers from the region to visit the offices of some parties, which includes the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Peoples National Convention (PNC).
He also established the Continuous Community Police Engagement programme, where the police interacted with members of the community on their security challenges.
As part of his leadership model, Dr. Dampare also spent a full day in selected communities who were being tormented by robbers.
Some communities that have benefited from the module include Madina, Danfa, Achimota, Tesano, and Oyarifa.
He also took a keen interest in making to that car-snatching criminal activities are reduced to the barest minimum.
