The Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party Anthony Karbo, says the anti-corruption credentials of the party’s flagbearer is unmatched.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo is the only political leader in recent times who served as Member of Parliament for 12 years and as minister for eight years but neither benefitted from a car loan nor lived in a government residence.

He told Joy News’ Evans Mensah the NPP flagbearer has never been cited for corruption in all his public life.

He was commenting on a campaign message of selfless leadership promised by the NPP flagbearer during his campaign of the Central Region, Monday.

The NPP flagbearer was trumpeting his credentials as an incorruptible leader who deserves an opportunity to lead by example.

He told electorates he was not into politics to embezzle public funds or to enrich himself.

Anthony Karbo insists the party’s flagbearer could not have said it any better. He said several years after leaving office; the governing National Democratic Congress has tried without success to sully his reputation.

“Nana Addo is a political leader who is clean; does not and will not be cited for corruption,” he stated, adding that “government conducted several forensic audits to find something to indict Nana Addo with but found nothing.”

But the National Organiser of the governing NDC Kofi Adams says the songs of praise being sung by the NPP and its flagbearer are empty and without basis.

According to him, Nana Addo as Foreign Minister had 40 diplomatic passports going missing, some of which were later found in the possession of drug barons.

He said under Akufo-Addo as Foreign Minister lands for the ministry were misallocated to government functionaries, even if he Akufo-Addo did not benefit.

He also cited allegations by some suspended national executives of the NPP that the flagbearer had embezzled monies put into an account for the campaign.

Kofi Adams said the NPP leader cannot claim to be incorruptible.

In a quick response, Anthony Karbo said the allegations by Kofi Adams were nothing more than rehashed accusations which are beginning to sound like scratched CDs in the ears of Ghanaians.

He challenged Kofi Adams and government to marshal the legal powers of the state and prosecute Nana Akufo-Addo if they believe he is guilty of the allegations against him.
