Amber Heard Dismisses Johnny Depp Domestic Violence Case — Settles For $7 Million

By | August 16, 2016

What money can do! It’s now over as Amber Heard has agreed to dismiss her domestic violence case against Johnny Depp after he agreed to pay her $7 million to settle.

Amber Heard, 30, dismissed her request for a restraining order against Johnny Depp, 53, on Aug. 16, nearly three months after she filed a case against him for allegedly domestically abusing her, according to TMZ. The actor paid his ex $7 million to settle, and since she withdrew without prejudice, she will never be able to refile.

“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” Amber and Johnny said in a joint statement. “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financials proceeds from the divorce to a charity.” Lawyers for Amber and Johnny came up with the settlement after the actress’ deposition on Aug. 13.

Back in May, the 30-year-old produced legal documents showing herself bruised and battered after an alleged altercation with Johnny. In her papers, she detailed other incidents when she claims he abused her physically and emotionally, and even had more shocking photos to go along with her allegations.

Then, just this week, it was revealed that Johnny had chopped off his finger in March 2015 and accused his then-wife of cheating on him with Billy Bob Thornton, which the 61-year-old actor says is “completely false.” It is unclear exactly what made Amber decide to settle, but considering the deal was originally reportedly supposed to be for $8 million, there has to be more to it than money, right?

Are you shocked that Amber and Johnny settled their case? Did you expect her to dismiss it?
