Breaking news: Newly Posted Teachers to Boycott Classes From March

Newly Trained teachers from the Colleges of Education in Ghana who were posted to public basic schools in October 2016 to teach, may not be going to school to teach starting from March this year.

This information was contained in a statement issued by a group calling itself Coalition of Concerned Newly Trained Teachers on Monday.

According to the group,the newly posted teachers were being promised by former President John Dramani Mahama on February 6,2016, that they will be paid immediately when they are being posted due to the fact that they weren’t paid allowances whiles on campus.

The group stated,that since last year,they were yet to hear from their employers with regards to their salaries.The group is calling on the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to with immediate effect respond to issues concerning their salaries as well as the salary arrears.

The teachers also reminded government of their feeding grant which was in arrears while they were still trainees.

The teachers explained the trauma they had been through since they were posted and threatened to put down their tools in March and picket at the Education Ministry as well as the Finance Ministry.
