What are the activities of the building and road machinery mechanic? She/he repairs and maintains all the machines of construction. S/he carries out tasks similar to a machinery mechanic, but specialises in the setting and maintenance of large machines used to carry loads, or move, earth, or stones – e.g. dump trucks, cranes, bulldozers, excavators, drillers, rollers and other machines used in asphalt paving.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Wherever the construction work is going on and the machines are working, so there is no fixed working place and s/he has to move around different work environments in a variety of weather conditions.

What do you need to succeed? You need initial vocational training although it may be better to have a further training in the maintenance of self-propelled vehicles or automotive engineering. Promotion can be achieved through experience and specialisation in other types of mechanics such as electricity, electronics, pneumatic or hydraulic. The mechanic can be promoted to Head of Factory or Head of Maintenance.
