Cape Coast Polytechnic Department of Liberal Studies
The Department of Liberal Studies services all the Schools in the Polytechnic. It offers courses in Communication Skills, African Studies, Entrepreneurship, Research Methodology and the Access Course into the HND programmes.
VISION
The vision of the department is to assist the Polytechnic turn out competent and enthusiastic graduates to contribute to job and wealth creation of the nation and also fit into any sector of the economy.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of the Department is to help students acquire:
- Proficiency in the use of English and French languages
- Technical skills in writing and reporting in order to communicate ideas effectively
- Entrepreneurial skills to enhance job creation and self-employment
- Assist access students acquire the requisite qualification in English language, Mathematics and Science to gain admission into HND programmes
- Pedagogical skills for the teaching profession to enhance their job acquisition.
- A Language Resource Centre had been established to train interested individuals and corporate bodies in English and French.
- A national Innovative Competitive Exhibition had been organized for students of the ten polytechnics to showcase their talents for self-employment.
- Plans are far advanced to commence a Part-Time Diploma in Vocational and Technical Education.

- Running a course in Information Literacy for first year HND students
- Establishment of an Entrepreneurship Development and Training Centre to enhance students’ practical skills
