Who is a dancer job and what do they do? The dancer is an artist who takes part in dancing performances and ballets.
What are the activities of the dancer job? Studying appropriate dancing performances or ballets for the purpose of acquiring a general idea concerning the performance or ballet required and the role (from the standpoint of one’s own dancing steps and figures as well as from the standpoint of the story which the performance or ballet represents, its mood and atmosphere) – practising particular dancing steps and figures during the dance or ballet rehearsals or parts of it under the supervision of the choreographer as well as individually – participating in rehearsals of complete dancing performances or ballets or parts of them – taking part in dancing performances at shows or festivals, being filmed for TV programmes, videos, etc. – taking part in ballets at theatres – regular exercises to maintain a certain standard of performance as a dancer and to keep fit as well as a good figure.
Where is it done and under what conditions? On dance floors, stages. Working outside usual hours and, from time to time, also periods away from home, must be expected.
What tools/equipment do they use? Their own bodies, dancing shoes and various costumes and make-up according to the performance.
What do you need to succeed? You need to have graduated from a dance study course, a talent for dancing, ability to move gracefully and easily, an ear for music, the ability to feel yourself into the role, a good memory, patience, concentration, an original and cultivated appearance and manners, ability to work in a team. How successful a dancer is in practice depends on his/her talent, hard work, and other abilities.
