Who is an interior designer and what do they do? The job of an interior designer comprises design, consulting, assessment and supervision of all kinds of interiors. Interior designers are usually freelance and have to find themselves work.
What are the activities of the interior designer? Their task is developing the architectural design of the interior and furnishings of apartments, offices and other types of premises, advising on selection of furniture and accessories, design or reconstruction of interiors in historical buildings and preservation of cultural heritage, collaboration with others in developing the layout of fairs and exhibitions, designing the interiors of art exhibitions, collaboration with others in designing interiors for ships and aircraft, architectural design for film and theatre (there are, however, even specialised designers for this type of business). Interior designers supervise the implementation of their own designs, assess the designs of other interior designers, and carry out research and teaching in the field of interior design.
Where is it done and under what conditions? The job is mainly carried out in studios and offices where the working environment is fairly comfortable.
What tools/equipment do they use? Working tools are writing and drawing supplies, computer technology.
What do you need to succeed? You need to have graduated from a university with creative art specialisation, you should be inventive, creative, have good taste, spatial imagination, be precise, and have communication skills.
