PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAMME
The MSc. International Accounting and Finance programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to become effective senior managers in today’s rapidly changing business environment. It is an intensive educational and self-development programme, which focuses on developing an individual’s true potential. This process includes dissemination of capacities to use the new knowledge productivity, which extends over the development of Ghana’s crude oil and other suitable products that set the stage for future growth. It is carefully designed, structured and integrated with interactive lecture sessions with strong emphasis on team work, seminars, and contemporary case studies. The programme stresses on leadership innovation and best practices helping to develop its graduates to become capable of managing modern enterprise effectively and independently.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The programme is expected to offer enormous benefits to the graduates, the institutions and the nation. The following are some of the envisage objectives of the programme:
The development of the programme was supervised by the ACCA. It is expected that the ACCA’s over a century experience in the training of accountants has enhanced the quality of the programme. Closely aligned to this is the constant supervision by the ACCA. This ensures that the courses are regularly updated to enhance the market-relevance of the programme.
The programme is based on the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the reporting standard supported by the Ghanaian Regulatory Framework. Compared to the other Masters programme run by sister Universities in collaboration with the British Counterparts, the fee for the programme is moderate.
Graduates of the programme may apply for up to about Nine (9) exemptions from the ACCA’s main professional examination. This is a rare opportunity which is available to only selected Universities outside Ghana.
