Who is a singer and what do they do? A singer interprets songs, and other compositions for the human voice of different genres according to his/her orientation.
What are the activities of the job? He/she can be a singer of pop, rock, country or folk music, etc. or he/she can be an opera singer. He/she can be a soloist, a member of a group or of a choir. If he/she is a member of a group, he/she can be an instrumental musician at the same time. Many singers compose music for themselves or write lyrics for their songs, or they translate and adjust songs from abroad. Apart from interpretation, the activities involve rehearsing the musical pieces together with other members of the choir, group or orchestra. The interpretation can take place at concerts, parties or clubs, at a recording studio to record CDs and other media. A singer must constantly exercise his/her voice.
Where is it done and under what conditions? In concert halls, music halls, theatres, stadiums, clubs etc. Work outside regular working hours must be expected.
What tools/equipment do they use? Sheet music, musical instruments especially a piano, microphones, recording equipment and studios.
