The Takoradi Polytechnic Access Courses are listed below. These are pre HND courses and every student must pass if he or want to get admission to take the HND programme

Pre-HND Access Programmes

The above-named programme has been designed to provide opportunity to students with Technical/Vocational educational background to pursue a one-year Access Course in English Language, Mathematics and Science.
The Final Examination will be conducted by the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (NABPTEX) after which successful applicants shall proceed to enroll in the Higher National Diploma programme. For a candidate to qualify to be admitted to the HND programme he/she must obtain a minimum pass of 50% in each of the three (3) subjects namely: English Language, Mathematics and Science.

HND Fashion Design and Technology
HND Furniture Design and Production

HND Mechanical Engineering (Automobile, Plant, Production & Ref. & Air-condition options)

iii) Duration
One (1) Academic Year (i.e. two semesters of 16 weeks per semester).
iv) Entry Requirements
Applicants should posses a minimum qualification of Intermediate or its equivalent.
Equivalence of SSSCE Grade to WASSCE Grades
Takoradi Polytechnic uses the new grading system of WASSCE for the selection of candidates and with this system an aggregate of 36 is the minimum entry requirement for all programmes. The following table shows this new grading system and the SSSCE equivalent grades.
