Tigo Ghana would on Sunday begin airing a television series on its new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project Shelter 4 Education under which it constructed school blocks for selected basic schools across the country.
The construction of the building has also been developed into a television series that would air on selected channels across the country for seven weeks, beginning August, 2.
The series would air on TV3 from 4:00-4:30pm, Metro and ETV 6:30-7:00pm and VIASAT 2:00-2.20pm.
“We are genuinely a caring brand. We care about our business and we also care about the people that make our business what it is- hence making this dream one of our objectives is to improve the quality of education in deprived communities,” Gifty Bingle, Director Corporate Affairs, said at a media premiering of Shelter 4 Education.
She said Tigo, under its CSR project Shelter 4 Education, has come to the aid of students who sit under trees to learn and in this direction, Tigo had built four and refurbish two classrooms buildings at six different selected communities.
Constructed under the company’s CSR initiative ‘Shelter 4 Education,’ the fully furnished classrooms come with a headmaster’s office, a staff common room, a KVIP and a pantry.
“We want to provide them with that convenient environment that can enable them go after their dreams,” Bingle said.
Beneficiaries communities for Shelter 4 Education programme this year are Ejura Sekyere-Dumase MA School, St Joseph Primary School in Obuasi, Tupaa Basic School in Ga South of the Greater Accra Region, Obeng Yaw Basic School in Adeiso of the Eastern Region, Dimabi Nursery and Primary School in Tolon Kumbungu of the Northern Region and Banda Ahenkro MA School in Banda Ahenkro of the Brong- Ahafo Region.
