Academic Awards
The University of Ghana supports academic achievement and is pleased to recognize and reward undergraduate students whose performance merits special attention. We award a variety of honors to students who have demonstrated academic distinction during their four years at SOP
Graduation with Honors
Graduation with Honors is bestowed on students who have completed all requirements of the University-wide Honors Program. This academic recognition becomes part of the official record and is noted on the certificate and transcript of the recipient.
The MERCK prize for Overall Best Student
This award was established in 2013 for three consecutive years and sponsored by MERCK to honour students who have attained a high scholastic record throughout the four years of the programme and have given evidence of the greatest promise of future achievement. It comprises one month internship/training at MDA in Germany, a MERCK certificate and a plaque.
The DANNEX prize for best student in Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy
This award is awarded annually to that student who has best demonstrated both high scholarly ability and a wide range of intellectual interest and competence with special interest in the practice of Pharmacy. It consists of a cash prize of GHC500.00 and a College of Health Sciences certificate.
SENES prize for Best Student in Pharmacology and Toxicology
Recipients of this award are students who have demonstrated excellence in scientific research, enthusiasm for the pursuit of knowledge and a dedication to scholarly achievement. The prize was established in 2013 and consists of a cash prize of GHC500.00 and a certificate from the College of Health Sciences.
M&G prize for Best Student in Pharmaceutics and Microbiology
This award is given to the student who has best demonstrated both high scholarly ability in pharmaceutics and Microbiology and a wide interest in intellectual interest and competence. The award consists of a cash prize of GHC500.00 and a College of Health Sciences certificate.
M&G prize for Best Student in Pharmaceutical Chemistry
This award was established in 2013 by the M&G Pharmaceutical Company and is awarded to students who have shown promise in scientific research in pharmaceutical chemistry. It consists of a cash prize of GHC500.00 and a College of Health Sciences certificate.
SOP Award for Best Student in Pharmacognosy and Herbal Medicine
This award honours students who have combined high academic standing with a deep understanding of the concepts of Herbal medicine and the practice of it. It was established in 2013 and consists of a cash prize of GHC500.00 and a college of Health Sciences certificate.
MERCK prize for Best Overall Female Student
Was founded in 2013 by Merck in honour of the most academically outstanding female student during the whole programme, in both the theory and practical courses. The award consists of a month long trip to Germany for internship, a Merck certificate and plaque.
MERCK prize for Best Student in Pharmaceutics practicals
This prize honours students who have shown exceptional understanding and performance in pharmaceutical formulations and other concepts of practical aspects of Pharmaceutics throughout the programme. The award consists of a month long trip to Germany for internship, a Merck certificate and plaque.
M&G prize for Overall Best Student
The M&G prize honours students who best represent the combination of very high scholarship and significant participation in class activities and service. This prize was established by M&G Pharmaceuticals in 2013 and consists of GHC500.00 and a College of Health Sciences certificate.
KAMA prize for best student in entrepreneurship
This award was founded by KAMA group in 2013. It is awarded to the student who best represents the combination of very high academic standing and exemplary qualities of entrepreneurship. It consists of a cash prize of GHC500.00 and a college of Health Sciences certificate.
TOBINCO prize for best overall graduating Pharmacy student
This award was established in 2013 by TOBINCO Pharmaceuticals and consists of a return ticket to the UK and is awarded to the student who shows an overall outstanding performance for the entire four year programme.
