What are the activities of the job? The woodcutting manager prepares annual plans and wood cutting projects. Together with a forest administrator s/he is in charge of wood cutting according to a schedule; prior to the commencement of work s/he ensures the preparation of wood cutting locations, choosing the appropriate technologies, so as to avoid any damage to the surrounding forest vegetation. S/he ensures the processing and economic use of the wood, adherence to the required technical conditions, standards and contractual arrangements in the process of production and delivery of products. What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed studies at secondary schools or universities, with a specialisation in forestry or woodcutting. You should also be familiar with problems of forestry, have wide ranging knowledge of wood growing and cutting, technical awareness, ability to manage a work team, ability to treat people tactfully, organisational skills, ability to act independently, perseverance, ability to anticipate the occurrence of critical situations, etc.
