The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the just ended tour of the Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo in the Volta Region as a face-saving exercise.

According to the National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams, Nana Akufo Addo failed in his attempt to win the trust and love of the people of the Volta Region after the NPP described a large number of registered voters in the area as non-Ghanaians.

The three-time Presidential Candidate of the NPP last week embarked on a four-day tour of the Volta region, during which he visited areas such as Aflao, South and Central Tongu among others, where he called on the people to have confidence in the party and vote massively for the NPP to win the elections and put Ghana back to economic prosperity.

But speaking on Okay FM Monday, Kofi Adams stated that it emerged clearly that wherever Akufo Addo visited, the people were not happy with the NPP’s attitude and conduct towards Voltarians.

“Per the NPP’s claim about the number of registered voters in the Volta Region, only about 300,000 out of the 1.2 million registered voters are Ghanaians, the rest are not. So if that is the case, then who are those that Nana and his NPP are visiting and appealing to vote for them?

“Again when Nana Akufo Addo recently announced his core teams, who from the Volta Region was included? not a single person from the region was selected. It was only after people raised concerns that Hon. Kofi Dzamesi was included; that was clearly an afterthought. But now they see the need to ask Voltarians for their votes.”
