Details of Takoradi Technical University Cut off points 2018; Get the necessary information on cut off points and admission requirements
The University currently uses the standard cut off point of SSSCE aggregate 36 or better; WASSCE aggregate 24 or better; the ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels as well as the GBCE/ABCE qualifications to admit qualified applicant. The Faculties have also additional requirement to be satisfied by the applicant
Takoradi Technical University Cut off points 2018. This cut-off point is difficult to get even from the school.
According to Takoradi Technical University, cut off points are only used when a lot of people apply for a particular program.
In effect, the school does no have any standard cut-off point for applicants. The admission requirements are rather used instead of the cut of points. Students are however to take note that the cut of aggregate is aggregate 24 accumulated from three core subjects and three elective subjects relevant to the program of choice.

A. FACULTY OF APPLIED ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY
 
SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
HND/DIPLOMA HOLDERS
Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificates in Graphics, Fashion, Textiles, Sculpture, Ceramics and Painting from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.
SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
(i)     SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

  • ·SSSCE Candidates: Applicants must have six (6) passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and, at least, three (3) elective passes relevant to applicant’s area of specialization.
  • ·WASSCE Candidates: Applicants must have six (6) passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.

(ii)    ADVANCE PAINTING AND DECORATION CERTIFICATE APPLICANTS

  • Applicants with Advanced P&D and SSSCE/WASSCE certificate with passes in English Language and Mathematics can also apply.
  • Intermediate P&D Certificate and SSSCE/WASSCE certificate with passes in English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) Arts electives with aggregate not exceeding 28.

(iii)   GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS
Applicants must have five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics and any subject plus three (3) ‘A’ Level passes.

Applicants must have passes in two core subjects (English Language and Mathematics) and two electives in relevant areas of specialization OR NVTI Grade I and II and, at least, one year relevant practical experience.
 
TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATIONAL TRAINING (TVET) PROGRAMMES
SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Certificate in Fashion Design and Technology
The programme is designed for the following group of people:
Practicing Seamstresses/Tailors, Graduated Apprentices, Apprentices, JHS/SHS Leavers, Entrepreneurs in the Fashion Industry and professionals with interest in learning Fashion.
Painting and Decorating Advanced
SSSCE/WASSCE: Passes in either English or Mathematics and two relevant electives.
Certificate in Ceramics
Applicants with 2 years working experience in the Ceramics, Basketry, Bead Making, Leatherworks, Sculpture and Graphic Design are eligible to apply.

  • Applicants must possess Four (4) passes in GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language.
  • Applicants with SSSCE/ WASSCE certificate can apply.
  • Applicants with NVTI Certificates in printing or any Art-related discipline can also apply.

(iii) LABORATORY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE APPLICANTS

  • Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years relevant working experience; and
  • Applicants with Laboratory Technician Certificate must pass a written entrance examination in English Language and Mathematics and must pass an interview to be conducted by the University.

 
SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • SSSCE/WASSCE: Passes in Four (4) subjects including English Language and Mathematics, plus two elective subjects.
  • GCE ‘O’ Level: Passes in Four (4) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, Additional Mathematics or Physics.
  • Candidates applying for the Diploma in Tourism Management must have at least one (1) year working experience in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
  • University and Polytechnic graduates and professionals can apply for the Diploma in Website Design and Management.

  • Science Laboratory Technician Part 1

SSSCE/WASSCE: Applicants must have passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

  • Pre-HND in Statistics

Applicants must have four (4) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE, including Mathematics and English language.

  • Certificate in Tour Guiding

Applicants must have 2 years working experience in the Tourism and Hospitality industry.  

  • Certificates in Event Management and Catering

Applicants who possess SSSCE, WASSCE, Pre HND and professionals in related fields can apply.   Applicants with NVTI Grade I and II and, at least, one year relevant practical experience are also eligible to apply.

  • Advanced Diploma in Computerized Accounting: HOLDERSs of Advanced Diploma in Computerized Accounting or Equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution can apply.
  • ICAG, ACCA, CIMA: Applicants with passes in level 2/8 or higher of ICAG, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent are also eligible to apply.

(iv) ADVANCE BUSINESS CERTIFICATE OR (RSA III) APPLICANTS
Applicants must have three passes in RSA III plus any of the following:

  • Five (5) RSA II, including English Language and Mathematics;
  • Five (5) credits at GCE ‘O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics; OR
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes, including English Language and Mathematics.

  • Applicants with passes in Electrical Engineering Technician (EET)   EET III & II, MET III & III and MVT III & II Certificates are also eligible to apply.

SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Electrical Engineering Technician (EET I )

Applicants must have four (4) passes in General Engineering Examination: Electrical Installation Work Certificate. Telecommunication Technician Part II, OR five GCE ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity or Basic Electronics OR four (4) passes in (including Mathematics and English Language) in the SSSCE or WASSCE examination.

  • Motor Vehicle Technician (MVT I)

Applicants must have passes in all three (3) components in Intermediate Automobile Engineering or passes in four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics or Elective Mathematics AND any two relevant elective subjects or any recognized professional certificate.

  • Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET I)

Applicants must have passes in all (3) components in Intermediate Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Craft Practices), or passes in four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE including English and Mathematics or Elective Mathematics, or any two (2) passes in relevant elective subjects.

  • EET II, MET II and MVT II

Applicant(s) must have EET I, MET I and MVT I in relevant areas of specialization.

  • Welding Advanced

Craft certificate in Welding OR 4 passes in WASSCE/SSCE including Mathematics and English language
 
SIX MONTHS BRIDGING COURSE FOR TECHNICIAN III GRADUATES
Applicants with Technician III certificate in all the TVET programmes run in the Faculty of Engineering (Electrical Engineering Technician (EET III), Motor Vehicle Technician (MVT III) Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET III) and Welding Advanced are eligible to apply for the bridge course. Successful candidate after completing the 6 months course will be automatically enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) degree programme.

The above-named programme has been designed to provide opportunity to students with Technical/Vocational and science educational background to pursue a one-year Access Course in English Language, Mathematics and Science.
 
SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants should possess a minimum qualification of G.E.S. Technical Exams Unit’s Certificate /Intermediate or its equivalent.

MATURE APPLICANTS
Mature applicants into all HND programmes must satisfy the following:

  • Candidates must be 25 years of age at the time of the submission of the application form.
  • Candidates must have, at least, four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes or four (4) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes, including English Language and Mathematics, plus experience in relevant area of study.
  • All mature applicants in addition must pass a written examination in the relevant subject area and an interview session.

SPECIAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

  • Applicants with Technician I or II certificates who seek to enroll with the Faculty of Engineering but are without English Language and Mathematics must also pass English Language and Mathematics Examinations to be administered by the University before gaining admission.
  • Stenography and Senior Stenography holders without English Language and Mathematics must also pass English Language and Mathematics Examinations to be administered by the University before gaining admission.
  • General Business Certificate (GBC) holders without English Language and Mathematics must also pass English Language and Mathematics Examinations to be administered by the University before gaining admission.
  • All special entrance applicants in addition must pass a written examination in the relevant subject area and an interview session.

MATURE CANDIDATES ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
Mature and Special applicants entrance examinations and interview will be held at Takoradi Technical University main campus. Please come along with birth certificates.
NOTE: All mature and special applicants will be expected to pay an additional on or before the day of the entrance examination at the University Campus. The amount will cover the cost of the entrance examinations.
