Short Service Commission Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Entry Requirements
SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION (ARMY/AIR FORCE CANDIDATES ONLY)
 LEGAL SERVICE (ARMY). In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have the following:

  1. Barrister of Laws, LLB.
  2. Barrister-at-Law (BL) Certificate
  3. Must have done Pupilage and three (3) years Post Call working experience.

MEDICAL (ARMY Candidates Only).

  1. Health Services Administrators. Applicants must have a BSc Degree in Administration (Health Services option) and must have completed the mandatory National Service. At least one (1) year working experience as a Health Services Administrator in a recognized health facility and be registered with the Association of Health Services Administrators of Ghana (AHSAG). Must not be more than 30 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  2. Health Insurance Officers. Applicants must have BSc Degree in Administration (Insurance Option) / Insurance with Actuarial Science and must have completed the mandatory national service. At least one (1) year working experience as Health Insurance Officer is required and not be more than 30 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  3. Pharmacists. Applicants must have Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (BPharm) from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory national service. At least one (1) year working experience as a Pharmacist in a recognized health facility. Must be registered and in good standing with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana and not be more than 33 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  4. Radiographers. Applicants must have BSc Degree in Radiology or its equivalent plus one (1) year mandatory national service. At least one (1) year working experience as a Radiographer in a recognized health facility is required. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council. Must not be more than 33 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  5. Specialists (Medical & Dental).   Applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent plus a relevant post graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship of the Ghana College of Physicians & Surgeons (GCPS)/WACS/WACP or its equivalent from a recognized college. Must have a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council.
  6. Medical Officers and Dental Surgeons. Applicants must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Must have a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical & Dental Council. At least one (1) year working experience as Medical Officer/Dental Surgeon in a recognized health facility is mandatory.  Must not be more than 35 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  7. Veterinary Officers. Applicants must have Doctor of Medicine (DVM) or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Must be registered with the Veterinary Council of Ghana. At least one (1) year working experience as a Veterinary Officer is mandatory. Must not be more than 35 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  8. Midwifery Officers.   Applicants must have BSc Degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory rotation or national service. At least one (1) year working experience is required. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana. Must not be more than 33 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  9. General Nurses. Applicants must have BSc/BA Degree in Nursing/Emergency Care Nursing from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory rotation or national service. At least one (1) year working experience is required. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana. Must not be more than 33 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  10. Specialized Nurses. Applicants, in addition to general nursing, must have certificate in any of the following specialties: Critical Care, ENT, Peri-Operative, Emergency Care, Paediatric, Burns & Plastics and Ophthalmic Nursing. At least one (1) year working experience is required. Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.  Must not be more than 33 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  11. Nursing Tutors. Applicants must have MPhil in Nursing/MSc in Nursing/Midwifery with postgraduate certificate in Education. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana. Must have at least one (1) year teaching experience in a reputable Nursing/Midwifery Training College. Must not be more than 35 years of age by 23 February 2017.
  12. Biomedical Engineers. Applicant must have a BSc Degree in Biomedical Engineering or its equivalent and must have completed the mandatory national service. At least one (1) year working experience in a recognized health facility is required.  Must not be more than 30 years of age by 23 February 2017.

Catholic/Methodist/Presbyterian/Pentecost/SDA/Anglican(ARMY/AIRFORCE Candidates Only). In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

  1. Must have done a minimum of four (4) years post Ordination Service in the pastoral field and must be a holder of a Licentiate or Diploma in Theology from a recognized Theological Seminary or College.
  2. Must be recommended by Head of Church who must be prepared to release him/her to the Ghana Armed Forces.
  3. Must not be more than 35 years of age at time of enlistment.

Imam (ARMY/AIR FORCE Candidates Only). In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

  1. He must be a holder of Degree/Diploma in Islamic Theology (Religion) from a recognized Islamic Institute Local or Foreign.
  2. He must have practiced as an Imam for four (4) years, recognized by an Islamic Religious Institution/Body.
  3. He must be fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English.
  4. He must be an A1 Alim Phedeen (Islamic Theologian).
  5. He must be recommended by a recognized Islamic body in Ghana ie the office of the National Chief Imam, the Ghana Muslim Mission, the Muslim Representative Council, and the Supreme Council for Islamic affairs, Islamic Research and the Ahmadiya Muslim Mission.
