Mrs. Christy Badu, Deputy Registrar in charge of Alumni Relations recently paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Papa Owusu Ankomah, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland at his Belgrave Square Office.

Mrs. Badu was in the U.K. to attend the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Europe Annual Conference, 2017 in Birmingham UK., and took the opportunity to call on H.E. Papa Owusu Ankomah, who is an alumnus of the University.
While congratulating him of his appointment, she said his appointment was indeed an honour to his alma mater, the University of Ghana.  Mrs. Badu also informed him of the setting up of the Alumni Relations Unit, under the Office of Institutional Advancement at the University of Ghana.  The Office, she said, seeks to strengthen the link between the University and alumni for the achievement of strategic goals.  Mrs. Badu cited examples of some specific Universities that have been able to organize their alumni to make huge contributions for development, and gave an analysis of their numbers and the total donations generated.
She outlined some of the activities her office was putting in place to ensure a very enriching and lifelong relationship among the alumni body and the University of Ghana for mutual benefit.

Mrs. Badu stressed the need for the support of all UG alumni to help achieve this and was hopeful that His Excellency would also assist the Office to provide links to his UG alumni contacts as well as philanthropic individuals and organisations.
Mrs. Badu was accompanied by Mr. Andy Lumor, Overseas Representative at Universities of Ghana Overseas Office in London and Mr. William M. Osafo, Head of the Education and Recruitment Section, Ghana High Commission, United Kingdom.
