WAEC Releases 2017/2018 WASSCE Results; The West African Examination Council has released the provisional results of candidates who took part in the 2017/2018 WASSCE exams.
A total of 289,210 registered for the 2017 WASSCE examination, this represents about 5.45% increase of the number of candidates who took the exams last year.
About 1,732, representing 0.60% of the total number of candidates were however absent.
In a press release signed by the Council’s PRO, Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe on Wednesday 19th July 2017, the examination council notified the public that the results have been released online, therefore, interested candidates could check their results on the council’s website.

WAEC also warned against persons who promise to change results for a fee.
“The Council is alerting members of the public, especially candidates to be wary of imposters who promise to change examination results for a fee.” – It said.
“Candidates are to note that all WAEC results are well secured and can be authenticated. Person with forged results will be exposed” – they added.

2017/2018 WASSCE Results statistics

Based on the provisional results, the performance at A1- C6 in Mathematics showed a marked improvement over that of 2016 (32.83% to 42.73%). while English Language recorded a slight improvement (53.19% to 54.06%).
On the contrary, Integrated Science showed a slight drop from the 2016 performance (48.48% to 43.66%). Similarly, there was a drop in the performance in Social Studies (54.93% to 52.25%)

2017/2018 WASSCE Results Malpractice

The entire results of candidates from 185 schools have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into various cases of examination malpractice detected during and after the conduct of the examination.
This includes results of candidates from 31 schools who were detected by the Item Differentia Profile (IDP) software to have cheated in objective tests.
The withheld results of candidates will be cancelled if found culpable or released if otherwise.

How to Check WAEC 2017 Result Online

Follow the procedures outlined below to check your 2017 WAEC May/June result online.

  1. Go to WAEC result checking portal at https://www.waecdirect.org.
  2. Enter your WAEC Examination Number in the required column.
  3. Select your Examination Year i.e. 2017
  4. Select your Type of Examination i.e. MAY/JUNE WASSCE
  5. Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of the WAEC result checking scratch card.
  6. Enter the PIN on your Scratch card.
  7. Finally, click “Submit” button to get your 2017 WAEC Result
