A monument will be erected in honour of Major Adam Maxwell Mahama, who was murdered at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region.

President Akufo Addo, who made the announcement when he paid a visit to the family of the deceased, also announced other packages for Adam Mahama’s family, including a 500,000 Education Trust Fund for his children’s education.

The President, who doubles as the Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, also promoted Adam Mahama from Captain to Major posthumously. He would also be given a state burial.

Adam Mahama’s family had earlier requested that a monument be erected to honour the army officer when the leadership of Parliament paid a courtesy call.

The family expressed the hope that this monument would serve as a reminder of the tragedy and a deterrent to the canker of mob justice in Ghana.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defense Staff has revealed that the Ghana Armed Forces has completed investigations into the death of the army officer.
